How to Order UL Round Sacks

1. Choose your fabric

The UL Round Sack uses two different thicknesses of Dyneema® Composite Fabric (hereafter referred to as DCF).

DCF comes in a variety of thicknesses, and thinner thicknesses are lighter but less durable. Even water-resistant and durable DCF can develop holes, thin, or tear if rubbed against a hard object in the same spot for a long period of time.

Due to the characteristics of Dyneema® fabric, as it is used, wrinkles gradually appear and the shape of the fibers changes, causing it to shrink like rolled-up aluminum foil when it is stretched out.

The shrinkage will recover slightly if you pull it gently, but if you plan to use it for a long time, we recommend choosing a larger size, taking shrinkage into consideration.

*Please note that due to the characteristics of the fabric, some wrinkling may occur during the manufacturing process.

Thin type "0.8iz/yd" specialized for UL

It's designed for UL standards, which is probably the limit of its durability when it comes to a stuff sack for mountain climbing, hiking, camping, etc. It's perfect for carrying a cooker, down jacket, change of clothes, small items, etc.
It seems that the shrinkage with use is less than that of 1.43oz/yd.

A thick type with a tough "1.43oz/yd"

It is thick enough to be used as a stuff sack to carry a tent, sleeping bag, cooker, change of clothes, etc.
This is just my personal impression, but it seems to shrink more with use than 0.8oz/yd.

2. Choose a color

The color varies depending on the thickness of the fabric.

The thin type of "0.8iz/yd" is available in one of the following colors:

・Black

The thick type of "1.43oz/yd" is available in the following three colors

・Black

・Dark Green

・Blue

3. Select the diameter size

The UL Round Sack is a cylindrical drawstring stuff sack, so the R (diameter) size ranges from 11cm. The thin type of "0.8iz/yd" is up to 17cm, The thicker "1.43oz/yd" type can be customized in 0.5cm increments up to 20cm.

Sizes are broadly divided into the following four groups, and you can specify more specific sizes within each group.

・[R11~13]: Diameter 11cm~13cm

・[R13.5~15]: Diameter 13.5cm~15cm

・[R15.5~17]: Diameter 15.5cm~17cm

・[R17.5~20]: Diameter 17.5cm~20cm

How to determine the diameter size

For example, in the case of a cooker, a round pan with a diameter 3cm larger than the cooker's maximum diameter is the recommended size as it is easier to put in and take out, and also takes into account the characteristics of the dough .

Furthermore, as you use DCF, the fabric will wrinkle and change shape, causing it to shrink. This is similar to the way that rolled-up aluminum foil gets stretched out. Taking this shrinkage into consideration, we recommend leaving at least 3cm of space between the container and the diameter of the cookware you will be using.

4. Specify the height size

The height can also be customized in 0.5m increments up to 50cm to suit the contents.

We have broadly divided them into the following 3-4 size groups, so please be sure to specify your size in the comments section on the cart page.

・Less than 20cm

・20.5〜30.0cm

・30.5〜40.0cm

・40.5cm〜50.0cm

Guide to measuring height

We recommend rounding up the decimal point to the nearest whole number.

*For 0.8oz Dyneema®️ Composite Fabric, the fabric is thin and therefore flexible, so please add 0.5cm to the height calculated below.
