These may seem like small things, but resolving them can reduce stress both physically and emotionally, allowing you to act more freely and spend your time more fulfillingly.

What is UL FUN Packing?

UL FUN Packing will eliminate the little stresses that come with mountain climbing, hiking, camping, etc., and allow you to pack in a smart and stylish way!

You can spread things out within the packing, which means less clutter, less loss, and less items on the ground.

What's more, it uses ultra-lightweight, water-resistant, and durable Dyneema®!

Carefully crafted design and functionality

1. Large size

The wide-opening design and shape has actually been common for small storage containers for a long time.

However, while there were small pouches available, there were no large packing sizes or anything suitable for mountain climbing, hiking, camping, etc.

Therefore, we created a larger capacity size that can hold several days' worth of food, clothes, etc. for luggage when hiking overnight, such as camping in a tent or staying in a mountain hut.

Combining them into one large size makes it easier to pack into your backpack, keeps the inside of your backpack tidy, and makes your packing look smart and stylish.

The large size can hold freeze-dried food or other meals for two people for about 1-2 days.

The L size can hold about two days' worth of clothes.

Keep your backpack neat and tidy!

It can be packed smartly into a travel bag or suitcase.

2. The base doubles

This design allows the bottom area to double when the zipper is fully opened, allowing it to expand and become like a bathtub.

3. Daisy Chain

A daisy chain is attached to the top with grosgrain ribbon, making it easy to remove from the backpack or attach to the outside of the backpack.

The back of the daisy chain attachment point is reinforced and sealed with Dyneema® tape.

All sizes can be attached to a backpack or other device by passing a strap through the daisy chain. Attaching it externally also increases storage space.

Carefully selected ingredients

1. Dyneema® composite fabric

The fabric of the main body is made by Ambient Protective Materials (formerly DSM), a company that is known for its commitment to quality. It uses an ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) composite fabric, Dyneema® Composite Fabric (hereinafter referred to as DCF).

DCF is a water-resistant, extremely strong material, yet extremely lightweight.

The stitching is carefully sealed with the same DCF tape, which takes time and effort, so the contents will not get wet even if the bag is splashed with water or in light rain.

On the other hand, it is okay to put wet items inside.

*Not completely waterproof.

* As DCF is used, it will gradually wrinkle and shrink due to changes in the shape of the fibers. Pulling it gently will restore some of the shrinkage.

2. Thickness of the fabric

DCF has a variety of fabric thicknesses, from ultra-thin to thick. The one I used this time was 1.43 oz/yd2.

1.43oz/yd2 means that one square yard of fabric weighs 1.43 ounces, making it the thickest single-layer fabric from DCF. It is a slightly stiff fabric.

A stuff sack, which is used to store and organize various items, needs to be lightweight, water-resistant to some extent, and durable enough against external influences. We chose this thickness of 1.43 oz/yd², which strikes the perfect balance between strength and lightness.

3. Waterproof zipper

The UL FUN Packing lid uses a YKK waterproof zipper.

UL FUN Packing: The story of its creation and development

There are some large ultra-light stuff sacks made from DCF by overseas manufacturers, but there are no stuff sacks made in Japan that meet your needs.
We have started prototyping to create it with [YAMATOMO.FUN] .

While searching for pouches of various shapes, I first tried making a prototype of a small pouch, and the design was well received, so I decided to make a larger size as well.

During the prototype stage, we adjusted the size in 1cm increments, made small changes to the stitching, and the way the daisy chain was arranged, making many fine adjustments.We wanted to reduce the number of processes as much as possible, but we also didn't want to compromise, and it took us about two years to complete the product.

When I actually took it to the mountains, I found that being able to spread out cookware and other items without placing them directly on the ground prevented them from getting dirty with sand or dust, keeping them clean and making cleanup easier.I also found that it reduced my mental stress by allowing me to store food that didn't fit on the mini table inside the UL FUN Packing .
